Fairly good. This morning was FREEZING. I hadn't noticed how cold it was since I have the heat on in my apartment and didn't sleep all night. When I left my apartment to go to class, my entire car was covered in ice. Like, seriously, the damn thing was one solid chunk of ice. When I got to campus and found a parking spot, I didn't realize that the parking spot was... ice. Yep, I had parked on top of a frozen little puddle, and when I stepped out, I almost went flying. Some guy tried to make small talk in the elevator and mentioned that it was 27 degrees out. Well, damn.
So, I had stayed up all night cramming for my History of Psychology final exam this morning, and I think I did pretty good. There was one brief moment of terror when I couldn't remember the word "phenomenology", but luckily it came to me as I was re-reading what I had wrote (it was an in-class essay). I was one of the last people to leave, because since I stayed up cramming and taking notes and re-writing and re-writing those notes until I had everything memorized up until I left for class, my hand was cramping up something fierce during the exam and I had to stop every few sentences. When I handed the exam in, the teacher whispered to me how she thought I was very bright and she loved reading my dream analysis and my psychoanalysis of Greece. That was super nice of her! Now I feel all happy and stuff.
I think I have my Biology final exam this afternoon. I'm not sure... Gonna have to check on that.
I know for sure I have a Behaviorism final exam tonight. Guess I'd better get cracking on cramming again...

I had 80+ notifications about that this morning alone! Holy shizz. And meanwhile I'm not getting comment notifications. Bleh.
I'm not sure what v-gifts are exactly, but I figured I'll give people some. I'll do that tonight when I have time to futz around on LJ.
Also- to all the people doing fic gift registries where you sign up and you get a xmas gift fic- I RLY WANT TO SIGN UP, believe me, my life just isn't complete without Hetalia and Naruto smut. But I don't feel right doing it when I know I won't have time to do sketch gifts in return. Sucks. Need moar time. But I've very tempted.
I have some $$$ from my estranged, newly crazy aunt and instructions to buy myself something, so I'm thinking about an ipod touch. I need to stop resisting facebook and twitter if I want to have a social life. And I'm still bound to Telus for the next 18 months, so no AT&T smartphone contract-needing iphone for me.
Martha Stewart Show marathon on at the gym yesterday! Fuck yeah. I think I'm turning into a fangirl. I don't need her books about cooking or decorating, but I wouldn't mind that one about small business advice.

I've been searching through the adultfanfiction.net archives in hopes of finding two fics that I read there a very long time ago...but it's all been for naught so far. So I'd like to request a link or the fics' names/authors if anyone knows either: ( cut... )

Real life post here, pretty much getting out the emo and thinking aloud.
My Grandfather (Dad's side) is having a procedure done tomorrow (Thursday in America). Kinda been weighing on my mind that one, as it leaves me with a feeling of "What am I doing?" I dunno. It's a weird thing, it's dangerous but they aren't worried, and yet they are and I don't really get it. So, internet, I'm asking you to please send your prayers, good vibes, thoughts of wellness to my grandfather. This guy is one of the reasons that I am so into comics now. ( And now for serious business )
Annnnd at some point I'll get back to the usual lols but at the moment my Grandfather is number one on my mind.

I worked for a while on this AMV and it's finally done =). My fingers half fell off with all the masking, (sleep-deprivation was a side-effect because I lost track of time xD) but it was so much fun doing this =D

Finished reading the Diaries of Court Ladies of Old Japan. A good read, but now I am interested in the life of men at court in Japan. Anyone know of any books I could read there? Reading this has gotten me REALLY excited to read the books I have awaiting me in America, here's to hoping that they are wonderful. And after reading Murasaki Shikibu's diary, I am VERY excited to read Genji Monogatari.
SO MANY BOOKS TO READ. Apparently there was a book written by an assassin on how to be an assassin and I really want to read it, buuuut it's illegal to own. Still, I am curious and I want to know! But I will probably never read this book. And if I do, I can never tell you.
Also if anyone knows of any good books by people who were spies (like, autobiographies), let me know! I'm in the mood for them. My mother leant me a book like that when I was younger, and it was FABULOUS. I want to reread it now.
I like reading. :3
Also--Naruto fanbook is HILARIOUS. And I started reading the Sasuke and Itachi fight novelization, which is at the very least interesting. I haven't read very much though. Because I have to look a lot of stuff up. D: Grammar, I fail you.
Okay, and now for a meme that I took from murasaki_kaze
( Read more... )
Well, I don't think that hardly counts, but yay I act 21? Funny that. But liking take-out seems like a very childish thing to me, nothing is better then a well cooked homemade meal. Seriously.
Anyway, back to hiding under the kotatsu and waiting for winter to be over.

So, I finally talked to my parents about my plans to pursue a bachelor's degree in fashion merchandising management.
It actually went...better than expected. O.o Ma didn't say much, which I'm not sure is either her way of acquiesing (she tends to talk more when she DOESN'T approve, believe it or not) or her way of saying "Fuck it, I know I can't convince you otherwise". Dad was fairly supportive, and asked a lot of questions, and operated under the misconception that I would be deciding upon the stage clothes of the Rolling Stones (!). He DID balk, though, at the idea of me living out of state, in particular, New York, which gets me to talking about my future plans:
First, I'll need to attend community college. In high school, I was ridiculously smart; aced my tests, but came from redneck lower-middle class multi-children family and was teased a lot - hence, I suffered from pretty serious depression. My schoolwork suffered BECAUSE I had such serious depression - honestly, I don't think I have more than a 2.0 GPA.
So I've GOT to get my grade point average up before any four-year school will think twice about accepting me. Fortunately, there's a community college about ten minutes from my house that offers low tuition and the opportunity to transfer credits to the college of my choice.
My college of choice? The Fashion Institute of Technology, in Manhattan, New York.
To be honest, it was a hard decision. Tuition at FIT is not TOO high (about $6300 a semester, which with fees totals to about $13,000 a year), but the living expenses are what's going to put a dent in my wallet (*wince*) at about another $10,000-$12,000 a year alone. There were other schools that offered the same degree at a LOT cheaper tuition, so why FIT? There's a couple of reasons.
1.) MANHATTAN. It's so loaded to say this, but I really feel like New York is the HUB of fashion in the United States (at LEAST in the East Coast; you can't argue that). A chance to be there, in the thick of things, among the boutiques and executives and trendsetters and all of these amazingly SUCCESSFUL, FASHIONABLE people is almost giving me an orgasm right now (jk). This is also, unfortunately, the reason Pop doesn't want me to go - to him, NY = HOOKERS AND CRIME. There's no explaining to him that New York City and Manhattan could almost be separate PLANETS for all the difference in median income. Besides, I'll be careful - I've read enough Cosmopolitan magazine now to be downright PARANOID about social scenes in general. O.o
2.) The courses offered. True, other universities offer a bachelor's program in fashion merchandising, much the same as FIT, but the curriculums themselves couldn't be more different than air and water. The other universities I've investigated (again, short of ones on the West Coast; in particular, California) offer similar general education courses for the first two years of college, but in the major areas of study, there's a huuuuuge difference. Classes at a somewhat-liberal-arts-oriented-state-college? General Chemistry. Introduction to Macroeconomics. Fashion, Style and Culture (acceptable). Critical Reading and Writing (WTF?). Introduction to Sociology. Costume History (ACTUALLY, I REALLY LIKE THIS ONE LOL).
Classes at FIT? Fashion Business Practices. Advertising and Promotion. Contemporary Retail Management. Merchandising Math Applications. Team Development Workshop (FUCK YEAH WORKSHOPS). Statistical Analysis.
See where I'm going with this?
3.) Career placement upon graduation of college: %90. 'Nuff said.
4.) If you file for it early enough, and base your first two years of curriculum around advance planning for it, FIT actually offers an international study abroad option in goddamned FLORENCE. Yes, Florence, Italy. They also offer programs in Paris, Hong Kong (enjoy your AIDS), Milan, and London, too, IIRC, but Florence was the one that appealed to me most. The classes are still taught in English, but focus more on the international aspects of merchandising (trading overseas, spreading/predicting trends, etc.) and of course, the SETTING. *___* FFFFFFF such a gorgeous country with such a colorful and romantic history. Italian 101, here I come!
Oh, and did I mention that I'll get to live in New York?
Anyway, that's my plan for now. It's still a ways off before I achieve my goal, but hopefully I'll be winking at you all from behind the desk of some huge multimillion dollar corporation one day LOLOLOLOL.
What are your plans, f-list? What are the things that you guys are going to school for? What are you hoping to achieve?
